Emerging Technology to Keep an Eye On

As we reach a new decade, technology keeps on accelerating. Consumers have plenty of tech news to keep up with each year, with expected developments in driverless driving, folding touch screen phones, and new consoles for video gaming.

We're likely to see space exploration, quantum computing, and a significant rise in software proliferation into our daily lives. However, in the modern world, it seems that everything around us is continually evolving and developing.

Voice Technology

Voice controls and digital assistants will prove much more useful to our daily lives shortly, muddling the distinction between the human-technology interface.

Natural language processing (NLP) is one specific feature of cutting-edge voice technology. The ultimate goal of NLP is to enable computers to decipher and understand human language.

When necessary, the software will also respond and execute actions based on natural language.

This new form of programming language would give computers an understanding of complex human tone, sarcasm, joke, and even wider contextual hints, including double meanings.

Through NLP, a person can talk to a computer, which will then collect the audio.

The audio is translated to text from there and then processed. At this point, the NLP software will attempt to interpret the words in the text and decode the context. The software can then answer any questions and/or commands it understands.

Artificial Intelligence

For several years now, this technology has made it to the top of the lists of technology trends and will undoubtedly continue to take on one of the top spots over the coming decade.

One new technology within AI is Neuralink's brain chip. The main goal of the project is to provide a direct link between a brain and a computer to overcome the power of AI by using a "sewing machine" device to stitch threads to an embedded brain chip.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and Neuralink founder, plans to use brain chip technology to treat brain damage and trauma and mental health issues such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addiction, and anxiety.

Neuralink also adds a new feature on their brain chip that will allow humans to proceed and choose their mood by controlling an individual's hormone levels.

Also, Musk has recently said Neuralink's brain chip technology would allow users to stream music from their brains effortlessly.

5G Technology

5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard replacing 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G allows a new kind of network that is designed to link virtually everyone and everything together such as machines, objects, and devices.

The world's largest telecommunications firms are keeping their 5G technology rollout on track to meet expectations. Implementing it globally would offer faster internet speeds, along with more robust mobile and wireless networks.

In the end, this would allow for a higher degree of automation and technological expansion into cities and remote regions. 5G's fast data processing rates would make driverless cars easy to introduce because they could get real-time data about the entire area.

5G networks don't just mean that your phone's getting better, so that means everything will get better. WiFi 6 is developed and introduced alongside 5G. Wireless networking protocols are also dramatically improved though they are different technologies.

Conclusion

These are the patterns that will shape tech in 2020 and the years ahead. Although every tech company harnesses various technical advances for multiple reasons, all paths lead to a world in which computers are heavily relied upon.
